Defense Secretary Ash Carter today nominated Lt. Gen. Carlton Everhart II to receive his fourth star and become the next commander of Air Mobility Command.
Everhart would replace Gen. Darren McDew, who has been nominated to be the next head of U.S. Transportation Command.
Everhart is currently the commander of 18th Air Force at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He is a command pilot with more than 4,500 hours in the C-17, C-130 and KC-135, among other aircraft. He had previously been the commander of 3rd Air Force in Germany, and he commanded the 618th Air Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center) at Scott.
Carter also nominated Col. Dondi Costin to receive his first star and become the chief of chaplains at headquarters Air Force at the Pentagon. Costin is the command chaplain for headquarters Pacific Air Forces at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.
