The Air Force has picked 786 officers and 592 civilians to go through developmental education at the Air Force Personnel Center.
In an Oct. 30 release, AFPC said that out of more than 3,500 candidates, the 1,378 people were picked for basic, intermediate and senior education during the 2015 Developmental Education Designation Board.
Those who were selected for intermediate and senior developmental education will go through Air War College, the Air Force’s Executive Leadership Development Program or other advanced training and senior leadership development programs.
In the release, Kris Hunter, the Air Force’s deputy chief for developmental education, said that being chosen for intermediate or senior developmental education shows the officers or civilians have proven themselves as leaders and show great potential. The programs will help officers and civilians improve their critical thinking skills and improve their current levels of expertise, he said.
“Developmental education is vital to the Air Force because it supports the continuum of education necessary to develop strategic leaders,” Hunter said. “These opportunities help cultivate Air Force leaders and are designed to ensure the future force is trained, equipped and ready to meet current and future Air Force requirements.”
