You\u2019re making up inventories and to-do lists in your head, if not on paper or in your phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maybe you\u2019ve got your next military move figured out, and you\u2019d like to skip the mandatory counseling session the services require. That might be possible, if you choose the \u201cself-counseling\u201d option through the Defense Personal Property System.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Not sure how to access DPS? Head <a href=\"https:\/\/www.move.mil\/dod\/accessing_dps\/accessing_dps.cfm\">here<\/a>, but that\u2019s not a good sign for self-reliance, PCS-wise.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jgwentworth.com\/lp\/hl\/militarytimesLP.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/arc-anglerfish-arc2-prod-mco.s3.amazonaws.com\/public\/5RJH47MLUJCIJA74ZETALIKTD4.jpg\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\" \/><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are a veteran of military moving, there\u2019s a chance you can go online-only on this step. But if you\u2019re part of any of these groups, according to a Move.mil self-counseling guide, you are NOT permitted to skip the in-person session:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>ARMY<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If it\u2019s your first personal property move, or your last (because of impending retirement\/separation).<\/li><li>If you move involves contingency orders.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re moving dependents out of the continental U.S.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re using a power of attorney to move property that\u2019s not in your name.<\/li><li>If this is your last personal property move (retirement or separation).<\/li><li>If you\u2019re making the move as a next-of-kin, or as an officer of a court.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>NAVY<\/b> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you\u2019re making the move as a next-of-kin, or as an officer of a court.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>MARINE CORPS<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you\u2019re making the move as a next-of-kin, or as an officer of a court.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re using a power of attorney to move property that\u2019s not in your name.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>COAST GUARD<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If it\u2019s your first personal property move, or your last (because of impending retirement\/separation).<\/li><li>If you\u2019re using a power of attorney to move property that\u2019s not in your name.<\/li><li>If you\u2019re making the move as a next-of-kin, or as an officer of a court.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not part of those groups?
