Think of it as the mobility equivalent of Air Combat Command\u2019s Red Flag exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The airmen will be joined by soldiers, Marine and naval aviators, and service members from more than 20 countries \u2014 with half participating in the training scenarios and half observing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exercise will include a wide variety of war requirements, including joint forcible entry, airfield seizure, assault zone landings, night-vision operations and airdrops. There will also be a joint mission between Air Force airdrop crews and the Army\u2019s 82nd Airborne Division.<div><br><\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It will also test all of the command\u2019s core competencies including airlift, air refueling, aeromedical evacuation and mobility support operations.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>[<a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2015\/07\/24\/amc-to-overhaul-training-rodeo-for-2017\/\">AMC to overhaul training Rodeo for 2017<\/a>]<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mobility Guardian replaces the command\u2019s Rodeo competitions, which pitted top airmen against each other \u2014 and international participants \u2014 in a friendly competition. The last one was in 2011, and since then the Rodeo has been discontinued.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s when the idea for a new exercise began to take shape.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cInstead of doing a competition where we\u2019re only training the most experienced and the people with the most expertise, what if we opened it up and trained the masses,\u201d Lt. Col. Harry Brexel\/Air Force)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mobility Guardian, which runs July 31-Aug. 12, puts the spotlight on junior crew members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe focus has been to give them the most realistic training so they\u2019re better capable of fighting our nation\u2019s wars,\u201d Wagner said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exercise incorporates all of Air Mobility Command\u2019s assets, and the planning included input from multiple units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s kind of unprecedented how we\u2019ve brought folks from so many different units together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airmen were asked what the perfect exercise for their unit\u2019s particular aircraft would look like, and Mobility Guardian planners incorporated their feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The participating aircraft include C-130s, C-17s, C-5s, KC-10s and KC-135s, as well as F-15s and A-10s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Charlsy Panzino covers the Guard and Reserve, training, technology, operations and features for Army Times and Air Force Times.
