{"id":21387,"date":"2019-07-10T19:26:14","date_gmt":"2019-07-10T19:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/uncategorized\/2019\/07\/10\/tech-sergeant-promotions-hit-17-year-high\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T20:35:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T20:35:22","slug":"tech-sergeant-promotions-hit-17-year-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/news\/your-air-force\/2019\/07\/10\/tech-sergeant-promotions-hit-17-year-high\/","title":{"rendered":"Tech sergeant promotions hit 17-year high"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Air Force has selected 9,467 airmen for promotion to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/2017\/07\/21\/air-force-unveils-list-of-tech-sergeant-selectees\/\" target=_blank>technical sergeant<\/a>, or 32.28 percent of those who were eligible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That represents the most selectees, and the highest selection rate, since 2002, when 11,571 airmen were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2017\/07\/12\/after-air-force-takes-hard-line-on-pme-tech-sgt-promotion-eligibility-nosedives\/\" target=_blank>promoted to E-6<\/a> with a 33.51 percent selection rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a Wednesday release, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2019\/02\/04\/air-force-drops-waps-testing-for-sncos\/\" target=\"_blank\">Air Force Personnel Center<\/a> said the list of airmen selected for promotion to technical sergeant will be released the morning of July 18. Selectees will begin to be promoted Aug. 1, according to their promotion sequence number. Selection rates for E-6 plunged to 15 percent in 2013 \u2014 the lowest point since the mid-1990s, after the Cold War\u2019s end \u2014 and 17.4 percent in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They began to recover in 2015, and hit nearly 32 percent and 30.5 percent in 2017 and 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personnel officials said that 29,328 airmen were eligible for promotion to E-6 this year, which is higher than the previous two years. However, the eligibility number is lower than years such as 2014, when 38,344 airmen were eligible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Air Force has selected 9,467 airmen for
