On Feb. 8, the Navy put out two notices involving items that may have, at the least, added confusion to those plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2018\/02\/22\/expecting-a-travel-claim-reimbursement-it-may-be-a-while\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GettyImages-515742979.jpg_b2dec4.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Expecting a travel claim reimbursement? It may be a while<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The Navy is currently processing a backlog of 7,500 travel claims.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, the service announced that nearly 5,000 sailors had received notices in error stating that their Letters of Intent had been canceled. href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NavyPersonnelCommand\/posts\/10160013381390584\" target=_blank>perfect storm of problems<\/a>\u201d for the delays; the news release cited an influx of PCS-related claims at the end of the fiscal year, worker furloughs, technical failures and weather-related closures as reasons for the backlog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NPC should catch up by mid-March, per the release, and begin processing claims within the 30-day window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last May, the service issued <a href=\"http:\/\/www.navy.mil\/submit\/display.asp?story_id=100598\" target=_blank>a release urging patience<\/a> among Navy movers, many of whom were facing lead times of two months or less when it
