The Space Force<\/a> just dropped a new recruiting ad \u2014 one designed to stoke the sci-fi dreams of people thinking about joining the nascent service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ad, titled \u201cMake History,\u201d leans hard into imagery of space exploration, with shots of an observatory, the X-37B spaceplane<\/a>, a rocket blasting off into outer space, a space-suited astronaut, a space station, and a colorful nebula. (Even though Space Force members<\/a> aren\u2019t actually going into space anytime soon, but that\u2019s neither here nor there.) There\u2019s also images of service members in a hyper-advanced, holographic mission control center that looks a lot more Starship Enterprise than Cape Canaveral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the tone of the ad is heavy on the inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe light from a star can take millions of years to reach Earth,\u201d the narrator begins. \u201cSo when you look at a star, you\u2019re looking back in time. But I see the future. I see exploration and courage. I see my country finding new horizons out there. And I see giant leaps making a comeback. I see myself. The future is where I\u2019ll make history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\t
