Brown\u2019s office said the signatures were unnecessary after he secured federal funding for his goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown said some troops may be deployed this month and are expected to stay until at least Sept. 30. They will be assigned to all parts of the state, not just the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal officials said Brown refused to commit troops to jobs that were similar to Guard assignments in the three other border states \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2018\/04\/09\/arizona-sends-225-troops-to-mexico-border-more-heading-soon\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona, New Mexico and Texas<\/a> \u2014 all governed by Republicans. Trump bashed Brown\u2019s position two days in a row, while the governor sounded optimistic that a deal would be reached soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s been a little bit of back and forth, as you always get with bureaucrats but I think we can find common understanding here,\u201d he said Tuesday. \u201cThere\u2019s enough problems at the border and the interface between our countries that California will have plenty to do \u2014 and we\u2019re willing to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California Gov.
