Sgt. Gregory Gauntt isn\u2019t conducting operations with his unit, he\u2019s conducting body slams inside the ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gauntt, 33, is currently stationed in South Korea with the 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron, where he serves as a non-commissioned officer in charge of fuels knowledge operations. However, Gauntt has another persona: the heavyweight champion of the Pro Wrestling Society in South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to wrestle since I was a kid,\u201d Gauntt said in a post on Kunsan Air Base\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunsan.af.mil\/News\/Article\/1758649\/8th-fw-logistics-airman-has-smashing-wrestling-alter-ego\/\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"521\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BodySlam.JPG.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BodySlam.JPG.jpg 780w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BodySlam.JPG.jpg?resize=300,200 300w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/BodySlam.JPG.jpg?resize=768,513 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">(U.S. Air Force Photo by Senior Airman Stefan Alvarez)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When he was a teenager, 17-year-old Gauntt told his parents his dream of attending professional wrestling school. But after his parents told him he wasn\u2019t allowed to live with them if he pursued a career in professional wrestling, Gauntt quipped that he decided to join the Air Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gauntt found his opportunity to enter the wrestling scene 11 years later while working as a military training instructor at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, and has since kept up with his wrestling career wherever he has been stationed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the seven years since Gauntt began his professional wrestling career, he has discovered parallels between the brotherhood of the military and professional wrestling. \u201cOne of the things my trainer told me is, \u2018There\u2019s a very military-esque vibe to wrestling.\u2019 &#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"521\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GaunttAtWork.JPG.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-71182\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GaunttAtWork.JPG.jpg 780w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GaunttAtWork.JPG.jpg?resize=300,200 300w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/GaunttAtWork.JPG.jpg?resize=768,513 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Continuing to wrestle while on deployment, his wrestling persona \u201cRyan Oshun,\u201dwho is also known as \u201cThe Jersey Devil,\u201d has grown popular in the Korean wrestling scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBelieve it or not, it wasn\u2019t difficult to get into wrestling in Korea,\u201d Gauntt said in the post. \u201cOverseas, especially in Asia, it\u2019s hard for them to find American wrestlers, particularly bigger ones. I had worked with the promoter here beforehand so it was as simple as messaging him, slowly coming to shows, and building myself up here.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gauntt then went on to say that he was heavyweight champion of Korea before he knew it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wrestling has served as an outlet and has given Gauntt the ability to \u201camplify my personality&#8221; while in the ring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI get to do and say things I would never be able to outside of wrestling &#8230; because it\u2019s part of the show.
