Gen. Caroline Miller, the Air Force\u2019s uniformed personnel chief, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/News\/Article-Display\/Article\/3690998\/daf-publishes-revised-dress-personal-appearance-instruction\/\" target=\"_blank\">news release announcing the update<\/a>. \u201cRevisions were made over a number of years, but we felt the need to revisit the entire document to remove redundancies [and] out-of-date information and decrease subjectivity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest instruction takes into account several changes made in recent years, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2020\/08\/05\/say-goodbye-to-the-floor-length-skirt-air-force-now-allows-women-to-wear-pants-with-mess-dress\/\" target=\"_blank\">allowing female airmen to add slacks to their mess dress uniform<\/a> as an option other than the floor-length skirt. Last year, the Air Force started allowing neck tattoos \u2014 following the Space Force\u2019s lead in 2022 \u2014 as the services have relaxed their ink regulations in a bid to recruit and retain talent.
