They are anticipated to hit shelves at Army and Air Force Exchange Service stores in July, said AAFES spokesperson Chris Ward.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/news\/your-air-force\/2024\/03\/11\/air-force-pt-uniform-delayed-as-space-force-launches-own-workout-gear\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/240308-F-AF999-0018.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Air Force PT uniform delayed as Space Force launches own workout gear<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Airmen are now slated to start receiving new PT uniforms 18 months after they first expected to get the new threads.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Originally slated to arrive in 2022, the clothing\u2019s debut was snagged by fabric shortages and other global supply chain problems sparked by the coronavirus pandemic. They were again postponed by a month in March because of the shortage and a color-matching problem between the running and all-purpose shorts that are included with the uniform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Designed for more comfort, the new athleticwear marks the first time the service has overhauled its PT uniforms <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2021\/03\/02\/here-are-the-new-pt-uniforms-coming-to-the-air-force\/\" target=\"_blank\">in nearly two decades<\/a>. With a track suit, a slimmer jacket and pair of breathable, moisture-wicking running shorts, as well as longer shorts with pockets, the new uniform looks almost identical to the previous ones but now comes in men\u2019s and women\u2019s sizes rather than unisex. A total of 150 airmen were involved in testing out the clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Though it was delayed, the new uniform has arrived before airmen are required to begin wearing it in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/news\/your-air-force\/2023\/12\/14\/air-force-aims-to-debut-new-pt-uniforms-in-march\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"214\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/210225-F-FC975-2386.jfif_.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Air Force aims to debut new PT uniforms in March<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">It&#039;s unclear when airmen will be required to wear them.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the new, standard uniform, the Air Force is also working on a long-sleeved PT shirt, expected in winter 2025, along with a hoodie. Those clothing items are not required to be worn during exercise as part of the uniform package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Space Force started issuing its own PT uniform at boot camp in March as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The military designs its own workout clothing in part due to a 1941 law passed to support American jobs and suppliers that requires
