It had been next to the link that leads troops to their Leave and Earnings Statement, a common click for myPay users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A soldier\u2019s email to Military Times pointed out concerns that the layout of the myPay website was causing confusion, based on emails circulating around his command. But it\u2019s not possible to accidentally make a decision about the BRS with one click, said Andrew Corso, the Defense Department\u2019s project lead for blended retirement. He outlined the multiple steps required for a service member to opt into the BRS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said his office had received \u201ca small number\u201d of questions about the placement of the links on the myPay website, and that officials had been in touch with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, which is responsible for the website,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further information was not available from DFAS, including whether they\u2019ve received complaints about the placement.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/militarytimes\/management\/pay-benefits\/mil-money\/2018\/01\/24\/dod-one-mistaken-click-wont-force-you-into-the-new-retirement-system\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/blended-retirement.JPG.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">DoD: One mistaken click won\u2019t force you into the new retirement system<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">While the website may have some confusing language and be prone to errant clicks, one mistaken mouse-button push won&#039;t change your retirement pay.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soldiers, sailors and airmen have until Dec. 31 to opt into BRS via myPay. Marines have the same deadline, but must use Marine Online to make their decision and must do so whether they are opting into BRS or staying in the current system; if member of the other services want to stay in the current system, they do nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only those who are eligible to make a decision will see these options in their myPay
