The service is requesting \u201cbirthday theme ideas\u201d from both airmen and civilians, the Air Force said Tuesday in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following World War II and the signing of the National Security Act by former President Harry S. Truman, the Air Force was established in 1947. By choosing a theme each year, the Air Force seeks to highlight the service\u2019s history, advancements, emerging technology and warfighting capability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the Air Force\u2019s 50th anniversary in 1997, the service requested not a birthday theme but a birthday quilt. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalmuseum.af.mil\/Visit\/Museum-Exhibits\/Fact-Sheets\/Display\/Article\/196843\/fabric-of-the-air-force\/\">final product<\/a>, dubbed the \u201cFabric of the Air Force,\u201d included \u201c100 hand-made squares from virtually every Air Force installation throughout the world,\u201d according to the National Museum of the United States Air Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Your soaring spirit, your dedication, your skill have helped America to master the skies,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/clintonwhitehouse4.archives.gov\/WH\/New\/html\/19970918-13355.html\">remarked<\/a> former President Bill Clinton at the 1997 celebration. \u201cYou\u2019ve made us more secure. You\u2019ve made the world a safer place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This past year, for the Air Force\u2019s 72nd anniversary, the theme was \u201cFrontiers of Blue\u2026This is 72!,\u201d a nod to cyber and space capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur story began with a garage startup, two bicycle mechanics, and an airplane. Today we\u2019re going faster, higher and smarter than ever before in air, space and cyberspace domains,\u201d said then-acting Secretary of the Air Force Matthew Donovan at the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the 75th anniversary, the service is asking submissions to \u201cconsider inclusiveness of multi-domain operations, capture Airmen\u2019s innovation and reflect on the Air Force\u2019s heritage,\u201d the release said. Theme ideas, which can be <a href=\"https:\/\/usaf.ideascalegov.com\/a\/ideas\/recent\/campaigns\/101\">submitted online<\/a>, are due by Jan. 31, 2020, with voting taking place from Feb. 24 to March 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The top entries will be subject to further consideration and relayed to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force David L. Goldfein, Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force Stephen W. Wilson, Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright and the Air Force Director of Staff Jacqueline D. Van Ovost.
