{"id":84610,"date":"2025-07-24T17:26:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T17:26:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/uncategorized\/2025\/07\/24\/anti-woke-former-officer-confirmed-as-air-force-undersecretary\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T01:21:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T01:21:26","slug":"anti-woke-former-officer-confirmed-as-air-force-undersecretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/news\/your-air-force\/2025\/07\/24\/anti-woke-former-officer-confirmed-as-air-force-undersecretary\/","title":{"rendered":"Anti-\u2018woke\u2019 former officer confirmed as Air Force undersecretary"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Matthew Lohmeier, the former Space Force lieutenant colonel who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2025\/01\/21\/trump-taps-officer-who-blasted-wokeness-for-air-force-undersecretary\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2025\/01\/21\/trump-taps-officer-who-blasted-wokeness-for-air-force-undersecretary\/\">relieved of command after publicly blasting the military\u2019s diversity programs<\/a> and alleged Marxist ideology, was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday as the Air Force\u2019s next undersecretary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 52-46 vote to approve Lohmeier was along party lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lohmeier was fired from command of the 11th Space Warning Squadron at Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado in 2021 after appearing on a podcast to discuss his self-published book, \u201cIrresistible Revolution: Marxism\u2019s Goal of Conquest and the Unmaking of the American Military.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During that podcast, Lohmeier decried diversity initiatives, critical race theory and Marxism, saying they were anti-American and divisive. Col. Matthew Lohmeier was fired from Space Force squadron command after appearing on a podcast to promote his book on alleged Marxism in the military.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his May 1 Senate confirmation hearing, Lohmeier rejected allegations that he was improperly political while acting in an official capacity, and said he did not publicly criticize his chain of command. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when asked by Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, if he would recuse himself from personnel decisions involving his former commanding officers \u2014 U.S. Space Command head Gen. Stephen Whiting or Maj. Gen. Devin Pepper \u2014 Lohmeier did not commit to a recusal, but promised to \u201ctreat all people fairly according to the law.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat is totally not reassuring,\u201d Hirono said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lohmeier voluntarily separated from the military in September 2021.
