There will be 650 active-duty promotions to the ranks of chief warrant officer three through colonel in December, including a final increment of advancements off the 2013 colonel and major lists for the Army Competitive Category.
The monthly promotion plan approved by Pentagon officials in early November also will complete the 2014 colonel list for the Active Guard and Reserve (Army Reserve), which originally had 50 names.
There will be 28 promotions to colonel on Dec. 1 for the ACC of the Regular Army, including 13 for officers of the Operations category, eight for members of the Operations Support category and seven for officers assigned to specialties in the Force Sustainment category.
A new ACC O-6 list compiled by a board that met in May is available for January promotions. That lists contains the names of 242 Operations officers, 149 Operations Support and 111 Force Sustainment members.
December promotions also will complete the 2013 ACC major list that originally contained the names of 2,136 officers. A new list containing the names of 1,680 promotable captains will be available for January promotions.
The December forecast also authorizes 113 ACC advancements to lieutenant colonel, 199 to captain, six to CW5, 31 to CW4 and 68 to CW3. All these promotions will be made from fiscal 2014 lists.
Within the special branches there will be one promotion to colonel for the Medical Corps; 25 to lieutenant colonel for the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, Chaplain Corps and Medical Department branches; 16 to major for the JAG Corps, Chaplain Corps and AMEDD branches, and five to captain for the Medical Service Corps, Medical Specialist Corps and Nurse Corps.
Orders authorizing these promotions are expected to be released in mid- to late-November.
