Sneed, of Bakersfield, California, had been stationed at Fort Stewart. He joined the active-duty force in 2010, according to the release.
The indirect fire infantryman made deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and earned the Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation and Combat Infantryman Badge among other awards.
