School officials haven&#8217;t seen any &#8220;unusual trends&#8221; in teacher vacancy rates since the freeze began Jan 23, Kanellis said. \u00a0 <br\/> <br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, &#8220;the March\/April time frame is a critical window for us to fill teacher vacancies that we know will exist for the start of the next school year,&#8221; she added.\u00a0&#8220;The exemption will allow us to start hiring teachers for next school year.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The activity&#8217;s human resources department resumed recruitment and hiring actions for teachers this week, she said. <br\/> <br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DoDEA&#8217;s priority request for filling vacancies was for all educators and select staffers <b> <\/b>who work in the schools\u00a0\u2014\u00a0classroom teachers, special education teachers, substitute teachers, principals, assistant principals, psychologists, school nurses and educational aides. <br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the headquarters and district levels, officials have received approval to hire instructional systems specialists, research specialists and program analysts. <br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DoDEA was not exempt from the hiring freeze under  <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/Portals\/1\/Documents\/pubs\/OSD000999-17-RES-Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Link: https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/Portals\/1\/Documents\/pubs\/OSD000999-17-RES-Final.pdf\">initial DoD guidance<\/a> issued Feb. 1, about a week after President Trump&#8217;s executive order initiated the freeze.
