BRIDGEWATER, N.J. \u2014 President Donald Trump\u2019s national security adviser H.R. McMaster is stressing that it is \u201cimpossible to overstate the danger\u201d posed by North Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with MSNBC\u2019s Hugh Hewitt that aired Saturday, McMaster said Trump has been \u201cdeeply briefed\u201d on the strategy on North Korea. Tensions have mounted with Pyongyang\u2019s two recent successful tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McMaster reiterated the administration\u2019s position that all options, including a targeted military strike, are on the table. Still, he acknowledged this \u201cwould be a very costly war, in terms of \u2014in terms of the suffering of mainly the South Korean people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

McMaster continued: \u201cSo what we have to do is \u2014 is everything we can to \u2014 to pressure this regime, to pressure Kim Jong Un and those around him such that they conclude it is in their interest to denuclearize.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The comments came as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is in the Philippines for a regional summit that is expected to focus heavily on concerns with North Korea. Tillerson has no plans to sit down with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho at the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
