Col. Scheetz with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/armytimes\/news\/your-army\/2019\/08\/06\/water-use-halted-at-carlisle-barracks-during-tests-for-abnormal-gas-presence\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/carlisle-barracks.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Water use halted at Carlisle Barracks during tests for \u2018abnormal gas presence\u2019<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Don&#039;t use the water in any way, Carlisle Barracks officials said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Water samples from around the installation were tested and the department\u2019s report on the findings showed \u201cno reason to continue the drinking water advisory at the Carlisle Barracks,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/USAGCarlisleBarracksGC\/posts\/2315699742014902?__xts__[0]=68.ARC63-Lg9pwNsM5qrTkC82-ftv2tGwkTJulob72hsHtUDxzinUk07D74dbwnIbA62ueNnL_uMHzEG8zu-7a_mSPe-3sYSC-ET8SCRQ_6aYjz4_d54a8W3k8ZRlByUFVFAK5r_UbLcaarKIUJVSqrL4eGne3DlZcfVpDn-jPvcyyTcJKcBU-2uxpyrwVvnnQJBtYiMZ9Q-Lh9QGrBBwEmYjg2qXVkiHewRjnWZS84s4NL_Qr5n5knOICKwSEJ5FSbFR5VElcZb3MsM5NFF7J0umB8We0sX1w-EUM-ms2lYdsH4m1PEpuIJelCDLxF4b9H78F6xFK3OewMUUnY4ufwSGQ4&#038;__tn__=-R\" target=_blank>another <\/a>Facebook post from the garrison commander. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe water at Carlisle Barracks was completely tested and determined to be safe for all use, and free of the contaminants that might have been indicated by the ion monitor,\u201d according to the post. \u201cHundreds of samples were included from across the entire installation, far exceeding the annual testing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Officials there will now look at combustible-gas indicators that first responders use, and \u201cfurther investigate these field detectors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First responders answering a resident\u2019s call on Sunday night found an issue with the water, though the equipment on base did not show what specifically it could be, Short said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/cumberlink.com\/news\/local\/communities\/carlisle\/unknown-gas-issue-leads-to-water-ban-at-carlisle-barracks\/article_774a9247-209e-5f65-b0e7-07d87542ef54.html\" target=_blank>local news report<\/a> by The Sentinel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have great confidence in our first responders\u2019 skill and abilities,\u201d Short said. \u201cThey did everything they should to take the proper precautions to safeguard our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reports of hundreds of dead fish in the nearby LeTort Creek water system led to questions about whether that water was contaminated by Carlisle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is no indication the Carlisle Barracks water system, or pipeline work in the area, may be responsible for killing the fish, Short said Monday in The Sentinel\u2019s report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe fish kill that happened last week is a separate investigation. And what we noticed in the flowing water around the installation is a separate instance,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The LeTort Creek water system is not linked to the Carlisle Barracks water supply, she said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During Carlisle\u2019s water shutoff, word went out that bottled water would be available at the commissary during the testing. A person commenting on Facebook said when he went to the commissary, no one was handing out water. People were then directed to get water at the Delaney Field House. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Neighboring facilities opened to those who wanted to take a shower. The Pennsylvania National Guard Armory was open to Carlisle Barracks residents for showers during working hours, and Dickinson College\u2019s Kline Center opened its showers and lockers during certain hours. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want to thank everyone for their patience and flexibility,\u201d Maj. Gen.
