Thomas J. Redgate, are scheduled to buried at the veterans\u2019 cemetery in Bourne on Sept. 17, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2021\/07\/09\/west-virginia-soldiers-remains-identified-from-korean-war\/\" target=\"_blank\">Defense POW\/MIA Accounting Agency<\/a> said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Redgate, a member of Battery A, 48th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, was reported missing Dec. 11, 1950, when his unit was attacked during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2021\/07\/12\/korean-war-remains-of-south-carolina-soldier-identified\/\" target=\"_blank\">Battle of Chosin Reservoir<\/a>, according to the Army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exact details surrounding his loss were not known, and his remains could not be recovered at the time. He was 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/militarytimes\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2019\/08\/02\/more-than-two-dozen-missing-korean-war-troops-just-identified-from-returned-remains\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4612662.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">More than two dozen missing Korean War troops just identified from returned remains<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The new findings more than quadruple the number of identifications from 55 cases of remains turned over last year.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In July 2018, following the summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, North Korea turned over 55 boxes that purportedly contained the remains of American service members killed during the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The remains were examined at the DPAA\u2019s laboratory in Hawaii, and based on anthropological analysis, as well as DNA and circumstantial evidence, one set was determined to be Redgate\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Redgate, whose hometown was listed as Boston\u2019s Brighton neighborhood, was accounted for in April 2020, but the announcement was made Wednesday because his family only recently received a full briefing of his identification, the Army said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Redgate\u2019s name is recorded on the Courts of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu.
