VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA \u2013 A water purifier is handy in all climes, providing troops a way to get clean water quickly when they run low or can\u2019t carry enough for the mission. But in freezing conditions many such devices can lock up, break or stop working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MSR Guardian Purifier, featured at the annual Warrior Expo East, put on by ADS, Inc., overcomes some of those cold weather obstacles through a combination of materials and design, said Casacade Designs government sales director Tim Davis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purifier has two tubes, which allows 10 percent of the intake water to clean the filter as it fills. That removes the need to open up the device to remove and hand-clean the filter, which is a time-consuming task in subzero conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
