Well, Spc. Trevor Cross with the 101st Airborne Division and his fellow soldiers found a way around that time-consuming chore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The soldier put together a forklift trailer attachment so the smaller, more nimble vehicle can slide in and out of areas to move whatever can hook to a trailer. The device mounts on the front of the forklift itself and uses the same type of attachment for a trailer hitch used on the Humvee.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/armytimes\/news\/your-army\/2020\/09\/06\/this-army-corps-wants-you-to-send-in-your-solutions\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/chute-rigging-XVIII-airborne-corps.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">This Army corps wants you \u2026 to send in your solutions<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Winners will get four days off, a medal and the training school of their choice.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSpc. Cross\u2019 innovation is brilliant in its simplicity,\u201d said Brig. Gen. Robert Ritchie, the Corps\u2019 Assistant Commanding General. \u201cHis idea, when scaled across all corps units, will save our soldiers time, increase productivity, and improve efficiency in our generator maintenance. (Army)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And once it is in place, soldiers are, \u201cnot going to understand how they went about their days without it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cross was one of five finalists. Other submissions included a guard on a refrigeration condenser to avoid damage during movements, a Shutterfly-like photo upload system for public affairs and a voice-activated touch screen monitor for combat medics to track unit vital signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Soldiers in the XVIII Airborne Corps can submit to the quarterly competition at the following <a href=\"https:\/\/innovatedefense.net\/xviii-airborne\" target=_blank>link<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For his winning submission, the specialist will receive a Meritorious Service Medal, four-day pass and school of his choice. He\u2019ll also help implement his trailer attachment across all Corps units, according to an Airborne Corps statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSpc. Cross saw a problem in his daily work life: generator mechanics are required to move enormous trailer-based generators around motor pools all over the Army every day and this requires a vehicle, two soldiers, and an hour of time,\u201d said Col. Joe Buccino, Corps spokesman. \u201cHis innovation is simple, it makes sense, and it will save time and money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cross is the second winner of the program, which launched in late summer. The first winner was Maj. Evan Adams, also with the 101st Airborne Division. Adams\u2019 innovation was a Range Finder mobile device application that streamlines the process of forecasting and managing training areas across the Corps\u2019 seven major
