Vanessa Guillen<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2020\/07\/03\/civilian-charged-in-plot-to-dismember-and-hide-remains-of-murdered-fort-hood-soldier-vanessa-guillen\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cecily Aguilar<\/a>, the only defendant charged in the murder, told investigators that Spc. Aaron Robinson hit Guillen in the head with a hammer after Guillen saw a picture of Aguilar on Robinson\u2019s phone, according to a 61-page Texas Department of Public Safety investigation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAguilar later explained why Robinson killed Guillen, saying Guillen saw Robinson\u2019s cellphone lock screen, which contained a picture of Aguilar,\u201d the Texas DPS document reads. \u201c[Robinson] told her he was worried about getting in trouble for violating the Army\u2019s fraternization rules since Aguilar was still married to another soldier and he hit Guillen in the head with a hammer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robinson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound when approached by law enforcement on July 1, 2020, according to police in Killeen, Texas. Investigators tried to apprehend him after finding Guillen\u2019s remains, which were buried along the Leon River, about 30 miles from Fort Hood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robinson killed Guillen with a hammer in an armory on post in April 2020. He then enlisted the help of Aguilar to dispose of the remains. The interview in which Aguilar describes Robinson\u2019s motive for the murder took place after Guillen\u2019s remains were found on June 30, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI then pointed out the smell in the room, that [U.S. Marshall task force officer John Ray] and myself were saturated in, and explained it was that of human remains,\u201d Texas Ranger Travis Dendy wrote in the report. \u201cI asked Aguilar to start the story over and tell the truth this time\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Investigators had spoken to Aguilar multiple times at this point, and according to Dendy, this is when she finally confessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRobinson killed the girl,\u201d she allegedly told Dendy. After Robinson picked Aguilar up from work on April 22, 2020, he told her he had something to show her, according to Aguilar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the cover of darkness, Robinson took Aguilar to the Leon River, where he showed her Guillen\u2019s body in a massive black tote bag. Aguilar said Robinson then put a gun to her head and threatened her so she would help him dispose of Guillen\u2019s body and the incriminating evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe claimed Robinson would go into moods in which he would not be his normal self and have a \u2018tic.\u2019 TFO Ray asked Aguilar if Robinson ever physically abused her to which she replied, \u2018He has never raised a hand at me,\u2019\u201d the report read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"582\" height=\"443\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screen-Shot-2020-07-03-at-16.05.03.png.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-86900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screen-Shot-2020-07-03-at-16.05.03.png.png 582w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Screen-Shot-2020-07-03-at-16.05.03.png.png?resize=300,228 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 582px) 100vw, 582px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Cecily Aguilar, 22, was charged in connection to the disappearance of Spc. Vanessa Guillen.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The release of the Texas DPS document comes as Aguilar is attempting to have her confession thrown out as inadmissible, citing the court\u2019s infringement of her constitutional right to fair and speedy trial, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwtx.com\/2022\/05\/25\/dps-report-reveals-motive-brutal-fort-hood-killing-vanessa-guillen\/\" target=\"_blank\">KWTX reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aguilar is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2020\/07\/03\/civilian-charged-in-plot-to-dismember-and-hide-remains-of-murdered-fort-hood-soldier-vanessa-guillen\/\" target=\"_blank\">currently charged<\/a> on 11 different counts: one count of conspiracy to tamper with documents or proceedings; two counts of tampering with documents or proceedings; three counts of accessory after the fact; one count of destruction, alteration or falsification of records in a federal investigation; and four counts of false statement or representation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCecily Aguilar will try everything in her power to walk freely as we are being denied the truth at this very moment,\u201d Guillen\u2019s sister Mayra told <a href=\"https:\/\/abc13.com\/vanessa-guillen-new-court-documents-released-motive-for-murder-justice\/11890872\/\" target=\"_blank\">ABC13 News<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mayra also said she was not convinced by Aguilar\u2019s confession and the alleged motive Robinson had to attack and kill her Guillen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy sister was a very responsible person, that would not meddle into Robinson\u2019s and Aguilar\u2019s alleged \u2018relationship,\u2019\u201d Mayra told <a href=\"https:\/\/abc13.com\/vanessa-guillen-new-court-documents-released-motive-for-murder-justice\/11890872\/\" target=\"_blank\">ABC13 News<\/a>. \u201cWe truly hope Vanessa receives justice, no family deserves to go through this. Vanessa should be here today, defending her loved ones and her country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Guillen family\u2019s lawyer, Natalie Khawam, told Army Times that she was \u201csickened\u201d with Aguilar\u2019s \u201cfrivolous filings,\u201d but that she didn\u2019t believe Aguilar would be successful in her attempts to get the evidence against her thrown out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cShe obviously doesn\u2019t have any qualms with cutting up a human body into pieces and trying to burn Vanessa\u2019s body,\u201d Khawam said.
