Myron E. Williams, of Dixon, Illinois, served in Company L, 3rd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division at the time of his death, according to a recent release from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dpaa.mil\/News-Stories\/News-Releases\/PressReleaseArticleView\/Article\/3115202\/soldier-accounted-for-from-world-war-ii-williams-m\/\" target=\"_blank\">Defense POW\/MIA Accounting Agency<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agency accounted for Williams\u2019 remains on July 13, 2022. Agency officials released information about his case on March 20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHis body unable to be recovered, and the Germans never reported him as a prisoner of war,\u201d according to the release. \u201cThe War Department issued a presumptive finding of death for Williams on Nov. 17, 1945.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An agency historian determined that one set of unidentified remains from the battle site, designated X-5432 Neuville, and recovered Germeter and H\u00fcrtgen possibly belonged to Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"657\" height=\"909\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pvt-Myron-Williams.png.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87047\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pvt-Myron-Williams.png.png 657w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Pvt-Myron-Williams.png.png?resize=217,300 217w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 657px) 100vw, 657px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Pvt. (Army)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those remains had been buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, an American Battle Monuments Commission site Neuville-en-Condroz, Belgium in 1949. Workers disinterred the remains in April 2019 and sent them to the agency laboratory at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, for identification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams\u2019 name is listed on the Walls of the Missing at Netherlands American Cemetery, another commission site in Margraten, Netherlands, according to the release. A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Williams will be buried in Killeen, Texas.
