A former Army captain and Iraq War veteran was arrested Tuesday in South Florida for his alleged role in the Capitol riot<\/a> after he was identified by the FBI using Facebook Live videos he made inside the building during the breach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gabriel A. Garcia, who left the Army in 2017, broadcast himself and others pushing against police lines to gain entrance to the Capitol building Jan. 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At one point, Garcia was heard on video calling police \u201cfucking traitors\u201d and warning officers that they \u201cain\u2019t gonna hold a million back today,\u201d according to a federal criminal complaint<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garcia, who was also a 2020 candidate for the Florida State House<\/a>, was charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, as well as aiding and abetting certain acts during civil disorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Miami-based attorney Aubrey Q. Webb, who is representing Garcia, said his client was released on bail Thursday and his case will be transferred to the D.C. District Court for arraignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to speak about the charges,\u201d Webb told Army Times. \u201cHowever, I will say that Mr. Garcia is entitled to full due process of law under the Constitution, regardless of political beliefs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Garcia joined the Army in 2002 and served in the active component, the National Guard and the Army Reserve, according to a military spokesman. He deployed once to Iraq from August 2009 to July 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Facebook Live videos made inside the Capitol, Garcia turned the camera to show his face several times, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was also recorded on CCTV footage inside the building, the complaint noted. A screenshot from that footage shows Garcia holding his phone and wearing a red \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d hat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe just went ahead and stormed the Capitol. It\u2019s about to get ugly,\u201d Garcia says in one of the videos, according to the complaint. Around him, the crowd chants, \u201cOur house!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the Capitol rotunda, Garcia is heard saying \u201cNancy come out and play,\u201d a reference to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
