Capt. Rick Dickson posted \u2014 and subsequently deleted \u2014 a message referring to the size of a friend\u2019s breasts in response to an earlier tweet he had made with a photo of the two together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an apology video<\/a>, Dickson and his friend clarified that the cup size comments were intended as a \u201cjab\u201d back at people who were harassing her over her appearance. The friend said in the apology video that Dickson\u2019s response to the Twitter comments \u201cdid not bother me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The suspension was first reported by local television station WRAL.<\/a> Dickson\u2019s unit is conducting a commander\u2019s inquiry into the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dickson made the comments from his personal account, but \u201cthat doesn\u2019t excuse any distasteful or potentially inappropriate language being used,\u201d an Army official familiar with the situation said on background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The official said the investigation is likely evaluating whether Dickson violated Army command policy<\/a>\u2019s social media guidance with his tweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dickson declined to comment when reached by Army Times on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The incident comes after Task & Purpose<\/a> reported Tuesday about an internal survey of women in Army special operations units that found 40 percent of responding women had experienced gender bias in the workplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dickson is also the latest soldier to face potential discipline over messages or statements made in a personal capacity.
