{"id":51626,"date":"2022-12-28T12:39:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-28T12:39:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/armytimes\/uncategorized\/2022\/12\/28\/new-womens-initiatives-team-seeking-soldiers-men-and-women\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:09:55","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:09:55","slug":"new-womens-initiatives-team-seeking-soldiers-men-and-women","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/armytimes\/news\/your-army\/2022\/12\/28\/new-womens-initiatives-team-seeking-soldiers-men-and-women\/","title":{"rendered":"New \u2018Women\u2019s Initiatives Team\u2019 seeking soldiers \u2014 men and women"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Army is launching a new advisory team to analyze policy and other matters in an effort to boost recruitment, retention and more for women across the service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service\u2019s \u201cWomen\u2019s Initiatives Team\u201d will focus on advising senior leaders on \u201cpolicy, program, and resource changes to create opportunities for success in women\u2019s recruitment, retention, readiness, and advancement across the Total Army,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/262848\/army_recruits_members_to_join_the_army_womens_initiatives_team\" target=\"_blank\">a Dec. 20 release<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team will report to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, the release said. The Senate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/nomination\/117th-congress\/1668\" target=\"_blank\">recently confirmed<\/a> RAND think tank analyst Dr. Agnes Schaefer to fill the role, which had been vacant since January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Army Women\u2019s Initiatives Team formalizes and sustains the momentum of enabling women Soldiers and Civilians to contribute to the Army\u2019s mission,\u201d Yvette Bourcicot, the acting assistant Army secretary overseeing the effort before Schaefer arrives, said in the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sergeant Major of the Army Michael Grinston, the service\u2019s top NCO,  also shared the application on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/USArmySMA\/status\/1605654148325773338?s=20\" target=\"_blank\">Twitter<\/a>, adding that \u201call applications will be considered.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the release, the service is soliciting applications from full- or part-time soldiers and Army civilian employees \u201cregardless of component, rank, demographics, or any other characteristic.\u201d That means drilling members of the National Guard and Army Reserve are also eligible to join.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Up to 30 applicants may be named to the committee for one- to three-year terms, during which they will play a critical voting role in selecting recommendations for policymakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The release also contains additional information on how interested prospects can apply.
