Team Wendy, makers of standard-issue helmet pads and high-end bump helmets, has added a ballistic helmet to the company’s offerings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new EXFIL Ballistic helmet<\/a> weighs in at between 2.6 and 2.75 pounds depending on size and offers improved suspension and rail systems similar to those used on their current helmets, but paired with life-saving protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new helmet, which retails for $883, offers Level IIIA protection capable of stopping at least 9mm full metal jacket or .44 magnum hollow points at 1,400 feet per second. Additionally, it offers the same blunt force protection as the Army’s Advanced Combat Helmet and fragmentation protection capable of stopping penetration by 17 grain fragments traveling at 2,400 feet per second at least 50 percent of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We’ve taken the best features of our Carbon and LTP\u2122 bump helmets, as well as our helmet liners and retention systems for standard ballistic helmets, and brought them together into one comprehensive ballistic helmet platform,” said Team Wendy CEO Jose Rizo-Patron in a company press release. “The result is a ballistic helmet that is lightweight, customizable and easy to adjust while providing exceptional protection.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The helmet uses a bolt-less, cam-fit retention system allowing wearers to adjust fit using a single hand without taking it off. The company’s Zorbium foam liner and comfort pad system uses technology similar to pads fielded in over six million helmets purchased by the Defense Department since 2005.\u00a0 The comfort pads, come in two thicknesses allowing wearers to customize the fit and position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EXFIL Ballistic also comes with an updated rail mounting system that is backwards compatible with all Team Wendy accessories. It allows for mounting of accessories through quick release adapters and Picatinny mounts, and also includes oxygen strap mounts and Peletor adapters for ear pro. There are also mounting options for counter weights, goggles straps, and a Wilcox W Shroud for night vision .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new helmet is available in three colors: coyote brown, black and foliage green. Additionally, standard helmet covers are available in MultiCam, black and coyote brown. Custom orders can be placed for other patterns and colors.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
