Congress this year approved the biggest military pay raise<\/a> in two decades, but the 2024 pay raise could be even higher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And that lofty target comes even before lawmakers begin an expected debate on potential overhauls to the military pay table. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the annual defense authorization bill passed by the House and Senate earlier this month, troops will see a 4.6% pay raise<\/a> starting in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s the largest hike since 2003. For junior enlisted troops, it means about $1,300 more next year in take-home pay. For senior enlisted and junior officers, the hike equals about $2,500 more. For an O-4 with 12 years of service, it\u2019s more than $4,500 in extra pay in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
