Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Don\u2019t stop training. Don\u2019t get complacent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The post was then deleted after it garnered comments criticizing the patch, which was visible on the back of one service member\u2019s helmet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe use of symbols and patches depicting historic images of hate is not tolerated and a clear violation of our values,\u201d said Maj. Russell Gordon, spokesperson for 1st Special Forces Command. \u201cWe are aware of the situation and are currently investigating the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/armytimes\/news\/your-army\/2024\/03\/27\/the-3rd-group-roots-of-this-unofficial-nazi-inspired-green-beret-logo\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/IMG_0067-2.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">The 3rd Group roots of this unofficial Nazi-inspired Green Beret logo<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">A Nazi-inspired patch that sparked outrage in recent days likely originated with 3rd Special Forces Group, which banned the logo in 2022.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alabama National Guard is assisting 1st Special Forces Command with the investigation, said Mack Muzio, a National Guard spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gordon confirmed the unit deleted the post. However, a screenshot of the image was shared by individuals to other social media sites in subsequent days, where hundreds of people have criticized the unit and commented on the historical significance of the image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adl.org\/resources\/hate-symbol\/totenkopf\" target=\"_blank\">Totenkopf is listed in the Anti-Defamation League\u2019s hate symbols database<\/a>, where it\u2019s described as the symbol adopted by the SS-Totenkopfverbande, a branch of the SS that guarded concentration camps. Since World War II, neo-Nazis and other white supremacists have adopted it as a symbol of hate, the database states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investigation comes just one month after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktvq.com\/news\/local-news\/montana-army-national-guard-apologizes-following-recruitment-poster-outrage\" target=\"_blank\">Montana National Guard issued an apology for its use of photos in recruiting materials that showed Nazi soldiers<\/a> marching during World War II.
