But his nomination has been stalled in the Senate for months by Democratic lawmakers upset over a host of department moves and what they claim is a lack of communication from VA Secretary Doug Collins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/veterans\/2025\/04\/01\/senator-vows-to-hold-all-va-nominees-over-planned-staff-cuts\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/veterans\/2025\/04\/01\/senator-vows-to-hold-all-va-nominees-over-planned-staff-cuts\/\">Several senators have put holds on all VA nominees<\/a>, but the Republican majority has the ability to override those blocks by going through time-consuming parliamentary procedures. On Tuesday, Republican leaders queued up a potential vote on senior Veterans Affairs advisor Cheryl Mason to serve as the next Inspector General of the department.
