(Chris Wagner\/Marine Corps)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the NOTM system, Marines can collaborate on mission planning while on the move, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf the situation on the ground changes, we can get updates to the Common Operating Picture, from reconnaissance assets to the commander enabling mission changes while en route,\u201d said Lt. Col. Devin Licklider, program manager of Command and Control Systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system links up to the network about 10 minutes after powering up, officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently it is cabled into the aircraft but there are plans to create an on-board Wi-Fi capability, which will be a first for that type of aircraft, Wagner said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mission ready, the system can provide communications access for up to five users, including networks, voice, email, video and text, according to officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Osprey component helps those airborne, but the systems command also recently announced a new development to help Marines on the ground connect to the network \u2015 Mobile User Objective System, or MUOS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"803\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Mobile-User-Objective-System-Marines.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-42103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Mobile-User-Objective-System-Marines.jpg.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Mobile-User-Objective-System-Marines.jpg.jpg?resize=300,201 300w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Mobile-User-Objective-System-Marines.jpg.jpg?resize=768,514 768w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Mobile-User-Objective-System-Marines.jpg.jpg?resize=1024,685 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Mobile User Objective System technology allows Marines to switch satellites more smoothly and transfer data faster with better connectivity. Shawn Avery, MUOS project office in Command Element Systems at Marine Corps System Command. \u201cThis will allow us to explore new operating concepts by pushing on-the-move voice and data connectivity to the squad level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Like a smartphone, the MUOS can roam, seeking out signals as it moves from one location to the next, such as
