Stephen &quot;Seve&quot; Wilson said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we told the chief is, \u2018you didn\u2019t have a dedicated leader to ensure that we continue to implement those things year after year, day after day,\u2019\u201d said Brig. Gen. David Gaedecke, the directorate\u2019s new leader and the author of the study. Gaedecke spoke at the Association of Old Crows International Symposium Oct. 30 .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Air Force had done away with much of its capability in the electromagnetic spectrum. Now, it is having to reinvigorate its capabilities and its workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/electronic-warfare\/2019\/11\/01\/a-strategy-for-electronic-warfare-may-be-more-important-than-money\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Army-Cyber-Photo-NTC.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">A strategy for electronic warfare may be more important than money<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Without a coherent strategy, dollars for new electronic warfare systems won&#039;t be as effective, a congressman said.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve gone decades with nobody in charge,\u201d Rep. Don Bacon, R-Nebraska, told reporters at the same conference. \u201cI was angry when I was active duty because I thought we walked away from the best EW doctrine and capabilities in the early 90s. When I retired, we were second or third best.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gaedecke explained that in the A5, the electronic warfare directorate can shape the design of the Air Force. Additionally, as part of the Air staff now, he said, he is being included in forums, such as budget discussions, that rarely included representatives from electronic warfare in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the operations level, the Air Force also integrated electronic warfare under a single commander along with cyber, information operations and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance within <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/dod\/air-force\/2019\/10\/14\/what-the-new-16th-air-force-means-for-information-warfare\/\"
