{"id":17299,"date":"2018-08-21T19:11:33","date_gmt":"2018-08-21T19:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/uncategorized\/2018\/08\/21\/idaho-gets-32m-in-grant-money-for-election-security\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:36:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:36:40","slug":"idaho-gets-32m-in-grant-money-for-election-security","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/cyber\/2018\/08\/21\/idaho-gets-32m-in-grant-money-for-election-security\/","title":{"rendered":"Idaho gets $3.2M in grant money for election security"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BOISE, Idaho \u2014 Idaho is receiving $3.2 million from the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to secure and modernize its elections systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The commission on Tuesday released a report showing how states plan to spend $380 million allocated by Congress to strengthen voting systems amid threats from Russian and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The largest chunk \u2014 roughly 36 percent \u2014 is being spent to improve cybersecurity in 41 states and territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Idaho\u2019s plan to spend the federal money includes devoting $1 million to upgrade the state\u2019s election system and voter registration database, $581,000 to tighten cybersecurity and $700,000 for election auditing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In accepting the federal money, states were required to provide a match of 5 percent and have five years to spend it. That means Idaho is expected to spend roughly $161,500 of its own funds.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Idaho is receiving $3.2 million from the U.S. Election Assistance
