An industry consortium will support NATO\u2019s effort to create common networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium will work with NATO\u2019s Allied Command Transformation on an initiative to enhance interoperability for NATO\u2019s Federated Mission Networking (FMN) project, which aims to boost information sharing and thus improve command and control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
NCOIC will assess the interoperability of various FMN systems. \u201cWhen FMN affiliates get products and services that work together before acquisition, they can lower or eliminate the investment needed for integration. NCOIC has shown that fixing interoperability issues after system acquisition can add up to 40 percent in integration costs,\u201d said a consortium news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Interoperability assessment will be based on a vendor\u2019s product testing that takes place as part of the normal quality manufacturing process. \u201cNCOIC verification will help companies understand interoperability is a basic requirement and that products are more likely to be acquired if they have test evidence confirming it,\u201d said NCOIC Chief Financial Officer Tip Slater. \u201cVerification won\u2019t create significant costs and will enable businesses to deliver on the basic FMN interoperability requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
