Dixon\u2019s move was announced in May, and IARPA\u2019s Deputy Director for Research Catherine Cotell has served as the agency\u2019s acting director in the interim.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/intel-geoint\/2019\/05\/09\/ngas-new-deputy-director-is-a-familiar-face\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4645840.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">NGA\u2019s new deputy director is a familiar face<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">A leader that&#039;s no stranger to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has been named to replace current Deputy Director Justin Poole, who announced in April that he would resign June 11.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dni.gov\/files\/documents\/Dr_Catherine_Marsh.pdf\" target=_blank>Marsh is no stranger to IARPA<\/a>. From 2013 to 2015, she was the agency\u2019s deputy director. However, she first joined the intelligence community as a senior scientist with the CIA in 2001, where she helped develop power solutions. She has also spent time in industry, where she led the team that put lithium-ion technology on NASA\u2019s Mars Exploration Rovers Spirit and Opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most recently, Marsh served as the CIA\u2019s chief scientist in the Directorate of Science and Technology, ensuring leading-edge science and technology was incorporated into CIA mission capabilities. She has held several positions in that directorate over the years, including serving as the primary science adviser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are happy to welcome Catherine
