{"id":29812,"date":"2017-10-09T22:18:42","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T22:18:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/uncategorized\/2017\/10\/09\/l3-launches-all-in-one-system-for-signals-intelligence\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T03:38:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T03:38:29","slug":"l3-launches-all-in-one-system-for-signals-intelligence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/show-reporter\/ausa\/2017\/10\/09\/l3-launches-all-in-one-system-for-signals-intelligence\/","title":{"rendered":"L3 launches all-in-one system for signals intelligence"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L3\u2019s new PRD-13(V)3 does it all, from signals collection to spectrum display to geolocation, Don Claussen, the company\u2019s vice president of business development, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The PRD-13 can be vehicle mounted as well as manpacked into a military pack with a carbon fiber frame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system can collect, analyze and geolocate within a frequency range of 3 MHz to 3 GHz, meaning it has the ability to collect and analyze on a number of enemy emitters or handsets, even high-frequency devices, Claussen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We call it \u201cthe Swiss army knife,\u201d because of its range of uses and capabilities, he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system can operate for six to eight hours on battery power, Claussen said, but that also depends on how often the user employs the small android handheld device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/PRD-13.jpg.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-84923\" srcset=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/PRD-13.jpg.jpg 640w, https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/PRD-13.jpg.jpg?resize=300,225 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">L3&#8217;s PRD-13 (V)3 comes with a small handheld display which features a spectrum analyzer, compass, and other control and administrative functions. (Photo by Shawn Snow)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The device can control the main radio in the pack and boasts a night vision screen with an application that allows the operator to use their \u201cfinger as a flashlight,\u201d Claussen explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The screen only lights up where the person\u2019s finger is making contact, providing security and low visibility to operators using the device during night time operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system also has the capability to network with others, which aids in geolocation of enemy signals and emitters, according to Claussen. When networked, a laptop in the tactical operations center can view all the displays from the connected devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
