The goal is to use the \u2018talking paper\u2019 in future <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2018\/05\/15\/marines-corps-strengthen-psychological-operations-with-new-job-field\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">psychological operations<\/a> as a means of communicating with civilians or combatants in enemy-controlled areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/militarytimes\/news\/2018\/05\/15\/marines-corps-strengthen-psychological-operations-with-new-job-field\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"162\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/MISO.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Marine Corps strengthens psychological operations with new job field<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The Corps plans to create another primary track field for its information warriors.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The sheets of paper could potentially be used to encourage enemy soldiers to surrender or defect, or reassure civilians in a target zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SOCOM developers envision future psychological operations similar to those employed against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/pentagon-congress\/2017\/04\/20\/us-ends-hunt-for-joseph-kony-as-top-rebels-off-battlefield\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">Joseph Kony<\/a>\u2019s Lord\u2019s Resistance Army in Africa, in which SOF operators dropped devices over LRA-controlled areas to get soldiers to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2015\/01\/06\/u-s-forces-holding-man-claiming-to-be-top-level-kony-defector\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">defect<\/a> using recorded messages from the soldiers\u2019 family and loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u2018talking paper\u2019 is still in prototype phase, but could begin combat evaluations by the end of the year if further developed, Defense One reports. Although not available now, future versions of the paper could include a biometric identifier that would ensure only the intended recipient is able to access the embedded
