This was the second attempt to get the mission off the ground after a planned launch on Monday was scrubbed just before liftoff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using the SpaceX Dragon Endeavour spacecraft, which is powered by a Falcon 9 rocket, the SpaceX Crew-6 team became the the sixth group of astronauts to go into space as a part of NASA\u2019s commercial crew program. The group will spend six months at the space station conducting a variety of experiments before returning to Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BLAST OFF!! <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NASA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@NASA<\/a>\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SpaceX?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@SpaceX<\/a> Crew-6 mission has launched from Launch Complex 39A on its way to the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Space_Station?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Space_Station<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SiwtpMeXeq\">pic.twitter.com\/SiwtpMeXeq<\/a><\/p>&mdash; NASA&#39;s Kennedy Space Center (@NASAKennedy) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NASAKennedy\/status\/1631167912407977985?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 2, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCrew-6 will be busy aboard the International Space Station, conducting over 200 experiments that will help us to prepare for missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond, as well as improve life here on Earth,\u201d NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said in the statement. \u201cWe look forward to seeing all that they accomplish.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/astronauts\/biographies\/stephen-g-bowen\/biography\" target=\"_blank\">Retired submarine officer Capt. Stephen Bowen<\/a>, who has made three prior trips into space, is leading the mission. They will replace the outgoing Crew-5 team, led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2022\/08\/18\/marine-astronaut-to-lead-next-nasa-mission-to-space-station\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marine Col.
