{"id":32634,"date":"2022-10-24T19:03:36","date_gmt":"2022-10-24T19:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/uncategorized\/2022\/10\/24\/titra-developing-turkeys-first-uncrewed-helicopter\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T18:31:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T18:31:27","slug":"titra-developing-turkeys-first-uncrewed-helicopter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/c4isrnet\/newsletters\/unmanned-systems\/2022\/10\/24\/titra-developing-turkeys-first-uncrewed-helicopter\/","title":{"rendered":"Titra developing Turkey\u2019s first uncrewed helicopter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ANKARA \u2014 Turkish engineering company Titra said it won government subsidies for its ambition to produce the country\u2019s first uncrewed helicopter, the Alpin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ankara put the program on its \u201cregional priority investment list, meaning the program will be supported by government incentives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Titra said it will produce 10 Alpins a year, in addition to 250 kamikaze drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe government will be the buyer upon successful field tests, hoping that, once combat-proven, the system will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/top-100\/2022\/08\/08\/turkeys-defense-industry-eyes-export-expansion-as-government-navigates-geopolitical-stage\/\">exported<\/a> to friendly countries,\u201d one procurement official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The long-range Alpin helicopter can be used for both military and civilian purposes as well as for rescue missions. The Alpin\u2019s design is based on the manned Italian Heli-Sport CH-7 ultralight chopper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The development of the aircraft dates back to 2019 when Titra signed a deal with UAVOS, a U.S.-based drone specialist. Under the deal Titra and UAVOS would convert CH-7s into dual-purpose, rotary-wing unmanned aircraft. The Alpin made its first flight in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The helicopter has a length of 7 m, a width of 1.5 m, a height of 2.35 m and a rotor diameter of 6.28 m. It has an empty weight of 340 kg and can be easily transported in a vehicle. The unmanned helicopter can carry a maximum payload of 200 kg including fuel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alpin unmanned helicopter can carry multiple payloads, and transmit real-time information to the operators. It features a wideband satellite communication channel that supports operations in remote areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alpin\u2019s other features include a fully redundant autopilot system aboard the aircraft, fully autonomous take-off and landing system, remote ground control network capability, autorotation landing capability and high efficiency flight control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its high-precision payloads include hyper-spectral, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and electro-optical\/infrared (EO\/IR) cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alpin is powered by Rotax 914 UL engine with a power output of 115 hp. Its maximum cruise speed is 160 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Alpin has a maximum range of 840 km and can fly at altitudes of up to 5,000 m.
