The U.S.-based company will integrate its Zeus line of propulsion systems with DART AE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis exclusive partnership . . . enables the Kratos\/Hypersonix team to be first-to-market with relevant capability in support of U.S. and Australia hypersonic initiatives,\u201d Dave Carter, president of Kratos\u2019 defense and rocket systems business said in an Aug. 9 press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The teaming arrangement comes as the U.S. looks to expand its cooperation with Australia and the United Kingdom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/congress\/2023\/07\/26\/house-advances-aukus-authorizations-amid-sub-export-control-debate\/\" target=\"_blank\">through the trilateral security agreement known as AUKUS<\/a>. That means deepening its partnerships with those allies on a range of advanced capabilities &#8212; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/industry\/2023\/08\/07\/the-pentagons-embrace-of-startups-could-fuel-hypersonic-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\">including hypersonic systems, which can travel at speeds above Mach 5<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move also will expand Hypersonix\u2019s presence in the U.S., following a contract award in March from the Defense Innovation Unit. The Pentagon\u2019s commercial technology hub selected DART AE for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/battlefield-tech\/2023\/06\/02\/defense-innovation-unit-eyes-first-flight-of-hypersonic-testbed\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hypersonic and High-Cadence Airborne Testing Capabilities<\/a> program, which aims to leverage commercial progress developing reusable, low-cost hypersonic test vehicles to help alleviate strain on government test infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hypersonix expects DART AE to fly for the first time in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kratos is No. 88 on <a href=\"https:\/\/people.defensenews.com\/top-100\/\" target=\"_blank\">Defense News\u2019 2023 Top 100 list<\/a>, which ranks companies based on annual defense revenue. The company\u2019s hypersonic development work includes both propulsion and vehicle development for DoD and classified national security customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company is on contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory for its Mayhem program, which is developing a hypersonic ISR and strike platform, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/pentagon\/2022\/11\/08\/pentagon-test-bed-to-ramp-up-development-of-hypersonics\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Naval Surface Warfare Center\u2019s Multi-Service Advanced Capability Hypersonics Testbed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kratos has experience working with Australian technology firms, noting in its press release that it has launched several hypersonic missions in collaboration with the country\u2019s Defense and Science Technology Group and the University of Queensland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBoth Hypersonix and Kratos view the teaming arrangement as an important step towards rapid future hypersonic flights in the United States,\u201d Kratos
