The Army wants that."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">HUNTSVILLE, Ala. \u2014 If the U.S. Army\u2019s future warfare planners have their way, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.army.mil\/article\/132048\/dirty_jobs_motor_pool_monday\" target=\"_blank\">Motor Pool Mondays<\/a>\u201d may never look the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Army Futures Command leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/land\/2023\/03\/29\/us-army-forms-new-modernization-team-to-tackle-contested-logistics\/\" target=\"_blank\">Gen. James Rainey<\/a> and the director of the Synthetic Training Environment Cross-Functional Team, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2023\/03\/17\/the-stars-born-on-highway-8\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brig. Gen. William Glaser<\/a>, have said the service wants to integrate the simulation environment directly into its combat vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t think we need to have [both] the combat vehicle and the simulator,\u201d Rainey said Wednesday morning at an Association of the U.S. Army event. \u201cI believe the technology exists that we should be able to train on platform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later that day, Glaser described the onboard simulators as a \u201cpanacea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cA platoon leader can wake up in the morning, do [physical training], go to the motor pool to do command maintenance, [go] to lunch, [and] they can come back and actually train on the same piece of equipment he has been maintaining,\u201d the simulations officer hypothesized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Harnessing the capabilities under development at his Orlando, Florida-based center, Glaser detailed a potential future where units in garrison can perform collective simulated training \u201cright there in the motor pool.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Combing the Synthetic Training Environment\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/smr\/force-of-the-future\/2022\/05\/15\/us-armys-virtual-world-becoming-high-demand-war-planning-tool\/\" target=\"_blank\">One World Terrain<\/a> project with onboard simulators could revolutionize pre-combat rehearsals for deployed soldiers on a virtual version of the ground they\u2019re preparing to fight over, Glaser suggested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One World Terrain, one of the cross-functional team\u2019s most heralded capabilities, has already helped commanders <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/smr\/force-of-the-future\/2022\/05\/15\/us-armys-virtual-world-becoming-high-demand-war-planning-tool\/\" target=\"_blank\">plan real-world missions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen it gets to the point where commanders are demanding this tech capability while they\u2019re deployed so they can actually use it as a rehearsal capability before putting soldiers in harm\u2019s way \u2014 [that] is really what we\u2019re trying to look for as we move out to 2040,\u201d Glaser said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But both generals cautioned that onboard simulations in the motor pool, no matter how large or integrated with other capabilities, will never replace live training events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat only gets you so far,\u201d Rainey said. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to get out in the dirt and do the combined arms maneuver.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If the U.S. Army\u2019s future warfare planners have their way, \u201cMotor Pool Mondays\u201d may never look the same.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":117334,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-noindex":"","_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-nofollow":"","_yoast_wpseo_canonical":"","_acf":"","_yoast_wpseo_primary_category":35,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","_smg_distribution_targets":[]},"categories":[7,29,35,38],"tags":[],"coauthors":[3358],"class_list":["post-36040","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-battlefield-tech","category-home","category-c2-comms-battlefield-tech","category-mobility"],"acf":{"subheadline":"","legacy_arc_id":"TCATBBQ6JFBMXMGPZTQ55YVTQQ","arc_canonical_url":"\/digital-show-dailies\/global-force-symposium\/2023\/03\/30\/onboard-training-simulators-in-your-motor-pool-the-army-wants-that\/","remove_feature_photo":false,"is_sponsored":false,"subtype":"","redirect_url":"","disable_inline_ads":false,"native_logo_pretext":"Presented By:"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.0 (Yoast SEO v28.1) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-premium-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Onboard training simulators in your motor pool?
