WASHINGTON \u2014 Textron\u2019s Bell<\/a> can move forward with building the Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft<\/a>, the Army\u2019s largest helicopter procurement in 40 years, after the Government Accountability Office rejected a competitor\u2019s protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lockheed Martin-owned Sikorsky filed a protest late last year.<\/a> <\/b>Boeing, Sikorsky\u2019s teammate, also filed a protest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn denying the protest, GAO concluded that the Army reasonably evaluated Sikorsky\u2019s proposal as technically unacceptable because Sikorsky failed to provide the level of architectural detail required by the [request for proposal],\u201d an April 6 statement from the office reads. \u201cGAO also denied Sikorsky\u2019s various allegations about the acceptability of Bell\u2019s proposal, including the assertion that the agency\u2019s evaluation violated the terms of the solicitation or applicable procurement law or regulation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FLRAA competition pitted head-to-head Bell\u2019s V-280 Valor, a tiltrotor aircraft<\/a> with Sikorsky and Boeing\u2019s Defiant X,<\/a> which features coaxial rotor blades. Both aircraft were designed to fit into the same footprint as a Black Hawk.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
