The company is on contract to build <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/space\/2025\/06\/13\/yorks-experimental-communications-satellite-ready-for-launch\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/space\/2025\/06\/13\/yorks-experimental-communications-satellite-ready-for-launch\/\">136 satellites for the agency\u2019s data transport layer<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The acquisition of ATLAS by York\u2019s holding company is awaiting approval from the FCC. If approved, it will give York access to the company\u2019s global antenna network, undergirded by a software platform that enables real-time tasking, cloud-based mission data delivery and automated scheduling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That capability, York says, will play a significant part in its proposal for the Pentagon\u2019s Golden Dome architecture, a homeland missile defense capability that will be composed of space and ground-based sensors and interceptors. The release notes that York, with ATLAS, offers \u201ca next-generation defense solution that unifies spacecraft, software, and ground operations to deliver full-spectrum capabilities across contested environments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">York\u2019s General Manager Melanie Pressier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/space\/2025\/06\/13\/yorks-experimental-communications-satellite-ready-for-launch\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/space\/2025\/06\/13\/yorks-experimental-communications-satellite-ready-for-launch\/\">told Defense News in June<\/a> the company believes there\u2019s \u201cplenty of work to go around\u201d if Golden Dome moves forward at the pace officials have suggested. President Donald Trump said the plan is to have an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/pentagon\/2025\/05\/20\/trump-estimates-golden-dome-will-cost-175b-over-three-years\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"\" title=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/pentagon\/2025\/05\/20\/trump-estimates-golden-dome-will-cost-175b-over-three-years\/\">operational capability in the next three years<\/a> \u2014 an aggressive timeline that suggests the Pentagon will need to tap existing product lines and vendors to scale up their systems and deliver in larger quantities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pressier echoed that sentiment, pointing specifically to the SDA\u2019s constellation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMany of the key capabilities for the Golden Dome are actually being delivered by the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture today,\u201d she said. \u201cI think a very important attribute of the PWSA is it\u2019s all
