The San Diego, California-based company has been publicly traded since 1959.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cubic said its board considered a larger, unsolicited offer of $78 per share from Singapore\u2019s ST Engineering, but the offer it took was in the best interests of shareholders \u201cbased on the superior certainty and anticipated timing of closing the existing transaction.\u201d Cubic said it has ended talks with ST Engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amid concerns over ST Engineering\u2019s ability to clear regulatory hurdles for foreign investment in U.S. firms, the Singaporean firm planned to sell off Cubic\u2019s defense business to the Blackstone Group, a global investment firm, <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtontechnology.com\/articles\/2021\/03\/31\/cubic-sweetened-offer.aspx\" target=_blank>Washington Technology reported<\/a>. ST Engineering is half-owned by Temasek Holdings, a sovereign wealth fund controlled by Singapore\u2019s national government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Veritas struck a deal in December to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/industry\/2020\/12\/08\/northrop-sells-it-business-to-veritas-capital-for-34b\/\" target=_blank>buy Northrop Grumman\u2019s federal IT and mission support business for $3.4 billion<\/a>, after it bought IT services firm Perspecta for $7.1 billion and bought <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/it-networks\/2017\/02\/03\/harris-sells-off-government-it-business\/\" target=_blank>L3Harris Technolgies\u2019 government IT services business for $690 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elliott, led by activist hedge fund manager Paul Singer, manages a combined $42 billion of assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
