WASHINGTON \u2015 The National Defense Industrial Association<\/a> has named former Deputy Secretary of Defense David Norquist<\/a> its new president and chief executive, the trade group announced Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Norquist, who served as the Pentagon\u2019s comptroller and then No. 2 civilian during the Trump administration, will step into the role May 1. NDIA, which has 1,700 member companies, is a nonpartisan organization that advocates for industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NDIA\u2019s chairman, retired Maj. Gen. Arnold Punaro<\/a>, praised Norquist\u2019s 30 years of experience in national security and federal financial management and said Norquist would \u201ccontinue NDIA\u2019s strong tradition of nonpartisan leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve selected a strong leader at a time of great challenge in the defense marketplace,\u201d Punaro said in the announcement. \u201cWith his proven experience and accomplishments in our industry, the legislative branch, and two of the largest, most complex federal government organizations, David is capable from day one to continue enhancing the industry-government relationship that is essential to supporting the warfighter and the taxpayer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\t
