{"id":21928,"date":"2016-03-18T20:44:37","date_gmt":"2016-03-18T20:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/defensenews\/uncategorized\/2016\/03\/18\/kkr-buys-defence-electronics-from-airbus\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T21:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T21:49:07","slug":"kkr-buys-defence-electronics-from-airbus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/defensenews\/industry\/2016\/03\/18\/kkr-buys-defence-electronics-from-airbus\/","title":{"rendered":"KKR Buys Defence Electronics From Airbus"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0Airbus Group has agreed to sell its Defence Electronics unit to KKR, a New York-based investment firm, for $1.24 billion, the aerospace giant announced Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airbus declared its intention to reshape its Defence and Space division in 2014, and this divestiture is a result, said Bernhard Gerwert, the division&#8217;s CEO, said in a prepared statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Defence Electronics is a strong, profitable business with significant growth potential and we are convinced that KKR and the Defence Electronics management team and employees will continue to strongly develop the business going forward,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airbus Group may keep a minority stake to ensure a smooth and seamless transition for the business, its employees and partners, according to the release.
