It will also aid military experiments and exercises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Exactly where the task force will be located has not been decided, officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Army plans to construct five total <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/land\/2022\/03\/23\/multidomain-operations-concept-will-become-doctrine-this-summer\/\" target=\"_blank\">Multi-Domain Task Forces<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first was established in 2017 in Washington state and has since focused on the Indo-Pacific, including China. The second, in Europe, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2021\/09\/17\/armys-first-multi-domain-task-force-in-europe-gets-to-work\/\" target=\"_blank\">was greenlit in September 2021<\/a> with an eye toward Russia. It included an intelligence, cyberspace, electronic warfare and space detachment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initial MDTF venture was experimental \u2014 meant to test and flesh out the Army\u2019s multi-domain operations concept \u2014 but the program has evolved to be more active and operational.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of our new formations that we\u2019re developing is called the Multi-Domain Task Force,\u201d Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth said March 30 at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=CCeE0tEUcBQ\" target=\"_blank\">Future of Defense Summit<\/a>. \u201cIt is designed to be able to bring together not just the traditional kinetic effects, but also to be able to leverage information, cyber and space.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other task forces are expected to focus on global response and the Arctic. Army Chief of Staff <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/battlefield-tech\/it-networks\/2022\/03\/21\/congress-freezes-349-million-for-armys-next-generation-goggles\/?contentQuery=%7B%22section%22%3A%22%2Fhome%22%2C%22exclude%22%3A%22%2Fland%22%2C%22from%22%3A25%2C%22size%22%3A10%7D&#038;contentFeatureId=f0fmoahPVC2AbfL-2-1-8\" target=\"_blank\">Gen. James McConville<\/a> on March 9 said there \u201cis always a possibility that we could put a Multi-Domain Task Force up in Alaska, with the capability to provide long-range precision effects and long-range precision fires,\u201d among other things. \u201cI see a lot of things happening in the Arctic as a competitive zone. We think we\u2019re going to be competing for that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Army Under Secretary Gabe Camarillo earlier this year said the service was \u201clooking at making sure that we fill the needs of cutting-edge formations in the Army, like our Multi-Domain Task Forces,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/land\/2022\/03\/28\/us-armys-178-billion-fy23-budget-protects-modernization-cuts-end-strength\/\" target=\"_blank\">Defense
