Graney has been serving as president of General Dynamics NASSCO, another GD-owned shipbuilder, since the start of 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKevin Graney\u2019s leadership, nuclear propulsion expertise and proven track record with submarine and surface shipbuilding will be essential to Electric Boat as it expands operations to build both the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine and the next generation of Virginia-class attack submarines,\u201d Robert Smith, GD\u2019s executive vice president for Marine Systems, said in a statement. \u201cWe thank Jeff Geiger for his 35-years of service to General Dynamics and we wish him well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Graney\u2019s biography, he started as an engineer on the Virginia-class submarine program with Electric Boat in 1995 and has held a number of positions with the company. Succeeding Graney at NASSCO will be David Carver, who is already at NASSCO as vice president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nuclear submarines are constructed in a joint effort between Electric Boat in Connecticut and Huntington Ingalls Industries\u2019 Newport News shipyard in Virginia. The U.S. Navy says updating its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/naval\/2019\/04\/08\/with-the-us-navys-top-shipbuilding-priority-on-deck-red-flags-fly\/\" target=\"_blank\">nuclear submarine
