The bundle includes $728.5 billion in military spending for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prospective boost for the Advanced Battle Management System suggests growing support for the effort, which lawmakers and watchdogs have scrutinized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of the things that I think this shows is that it\u2019s getting more real, it\u2019s getting more defined and we\u2019re getting more confidence in Congress in the idea of Joint All-Domain Command and Control as well as the specifics of Joint All-Domain Command and Control,\u201d Air Force<a href=\"https:\/\/www.af.mil\/About-Us\/Biographies\/Display\/Article\/954362\/s-clinton-hinote\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Lt. Gen. S. Clinton Hinote<\/a> said March 9 at the Defense Programs Conference. \u201cAnd that\u2019s a good thing for tomorrow\u2019s war fighter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Defense Department initially asked for $204 million for ABMS in fiscal year 2022 \u2014 an increase compared to Congress\u2019 allocation the year prior, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/battlefield-tech\/c2-comms\/2021\/06\/15\/part-2-congress-dealt-abms-a-blow-but-experts-see-progress\/\" target=\"_blank\">still a significant slash<\/a> to the service\u2019s original vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall has said he wants to see the Advanced Battle Management System mature alongside the Defense Department\u2019s grander communications concept known as Joint All-Domain Command and Control, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/air\/2021\/08\/19\/new-us-air-force-secretary-to-shake-up-advanced-battle-management-program\/\" target=\"_blank\">prior reservations<\/a>. The ABMS buildout is one of the secretary\u2019s imperatives, the Air Force said March 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you look at your operation centers and other command and control nodes \u2014 AWACS and JSTARS, for example, battle management nodes which are aging out or increasingly vulnerable to attack \u2014 we\u2019ve got to figure out what the architecture looks like,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/congress\/2022\/03\/10\/congress-nixes-air-force-plans-to-buy-hypersonics-this-year-after-test-failures\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kendall said<\/a> March 9. \u201cAnd we got to get on replacing. Some of our communications links need to be replaced, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Air Force has conducted several demonstrations of new command and control capabilities over recent years. One exercise with the Advanced Battle Management System, in December 2019, showcased data transmission from Army radars, Navy destroyers and fighter aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The compromise $1.5 trillion spending package is expected to be signed into law shortly. It passed the House and has support in the Senate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is unquestionably in the interest of the American people that the House and the Senate act
